The iRMS program will provide GPs and other referrers with rapid, real-time access to referral information at any point in the referral pathway, allowing those involved in patient care to better manage and optimise the patient journey, improve patient safety and reduce specialist outpatient wait times.
Components of the iRMS program include:
- A statewide Referral Service Directory which will provide details of all HHS clinical locations and the necessary business rules supporting referral lodgement.
- External eReferral, which will allow external health providers such as GPs to create and submit a referral from either their existing practice software or from health pathways.
- Internal eReferral, which will allow Queensland Health clinicians to create and submit a referral for existing patients.
- Referral Lodgement and Tracking, a statewide service to allow the lodgement and tracking of both external and internal referrals.
